The EZ cracker comes in two pieces, the cracker, and the yolk/white separator. Attach the separator to the cracker in the notch below the spring loaded grip so that it hangs right beneath the cracker. Then place the egg SIDEWAYS, or LENGTH WISE between the two round plastic rings, therefore the longest part of the egg fits between the two hoops. Then GENTLY apply a little pressure with the spring grip, the egg should crack, break open, and slip into the separator cup. The white of the egg then slips through the center hole and notches of the separator, the egg shell remains intact, so there are no little pieces of shell that fall into the separator cup.
The first time I tried this with a cold egg right out of the refrigerator, and the egg white was very slow in sliding through both the center hole and the side notches of the separator cup. Then I tried it again, this time with an egg that was room temperature and the white of the egg dripped through the openings of the cup much faster.
Therefore, follow these 3 tips to receive perfect success, 1. Use the egg at room temperature, not cold. 2. Lay the egg in lengthwise between the two plastic loops. 3. Apply gentle pressure when squeezing the two spring loaded grip handles, the egg needs to crack, not get smashed.
