An amazingly spooky prophecy, 15 Jan 2005
By Josephine Barry - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: As Good as Dead in Downtown (Paperback)
Neil posted me a copy of his book yesterday, which I started reading immediately after the postman arrived this morning, and I had already finished reading it by lunchtime.
It was such a gripping page-turner, that I couldn't put it down and read it from cover to cover in one sitting.
It was painfully agonising reading it to start with ,
as I realised that what I was actually reading could have been sheer prophecy about the Asian Tusanmi disaster.
The book's setting and imagery is so atmospheric it is a spooky description of both the earthquake and Tidal wave written two years before the Asian disaster, set in completely imaginary places,
I was tempted to stop reading, because it was too upsetting .
It was much too close to the recent disaster for comfort,
It made me feel very uncomfortable about being able to watch the events of the disaster unfold in my living room without doing anything to help the victims.
I was left feeling that I am still living the experience with the characters in this powerful tale two hours after finishing reading Neil's fantastic book.
This is a memorable story which stays with you long after you have finished reading.
It's exceptionally well-written, with a fast-moving,imaginative storyline, and a pleasure to read .
I have no hesitation in highly recommending this book as one of the best books I have read this year.
