Book Description

1 Sep 2008

An abducted child. A ruthless killer. A race against time.

Haunted by her failures, police detective Isabelle O'Connell is recalled to duty by detective Alec Goddard to investigate the abduction of yet another child from her old home town. With the killer playing a game of cat and mouse they have only days in which to find the girl alive, but they have very few clues, a whole town of suspects and a vast wilderness to search.

For Isabelle, this case is already personal; for Alec his best intentions to keep it purely professional soon dissolve. He starts to think of the missing child as if she were his own, and his anguish over Bella's safety moves beyond just his concern for a colleague. Their mutual attraction leaves them both vulnerable to their private nightmares - nightmares that the killer ruthlessly exploits . . .

5.0 out of 5 stars A great aussie thriller/romance 7 Mar 2011
Format:Paperback
This book was a great read - I purchased the second book and after reading it over a weekend was back at the bookstore (sorry amazon.com) Monday morning to buy As Darkness Falls. Its got a bit of everything, suspense, romance, great plot and very real and loveable central characters. I also look forward to the Bronwyn's next book in this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Moving Australian Romantic Suspense 7 Mar 2010
Format:Paperback
Bronwyn Parry's romantic suspense is unashamedly Australian but does not rely on stereotypes of any sort. The heartbreaking back story of the destruction of Bella's faith in people - her own people - and the redemption she finds through working on the case of a missing child make for an engrossing story.

The romance between Bella and Alec moves quickly, but feels real. This is much more of a romance than the second book in the series (Dark Country) seemed to be, but the mystery of the crime is still the most prominent element of the story.

I cannot wait for the final book in the trilogy. This country needs more authors writing in this genre.

This is really a four and a half star read.

5.0 out of 5 stars I loved this book! 11 Mar 2012
By BookBlogger101 - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I've read this book twice already, and it was even better the second time around. Ms. Parry does a great job of bringing the Australian Outback to life for this American reader, and the suspense kept me on the edge of my seat. I couldn't bear to put the book down and read straight through dinner and way past my bedtime. If you love suspense, you have to get this book. If you love all things Aussie, you have to get this book. And I just found out the new one is available, too. On my way to get it.
