With his second solo CD, his first solo CD in eight years, ex-Long Ryder Sid Griffin re-enters the troubadour scene hot on the heels of his recent successes with 2004's Long Ryders reunion tour and his bluegrass Coal Porters great acceptance by the worldwide bluegrass community.
Featuring a host of new Sid songs as well as a cover of the Flamin' Groovies' "You Tore Me Down" the highlight of As Certain As Sunrise may well be the previously unreleased, unrecorded song by Americana hero the late Doug Sahm, aka Sir Doug of the Sir Douglas Quintet and Texas Tornadoes. Featuring ex-Small Face Ian MacLagan on keyboards it is but one star in the galaxy of musical glory that is Sid's new CD As Certain As Sunrise.

As warm and pleasing as sunrise,

Whatever's led you to look at this page - whether you've heard Sid Griffin's wild enthusing about other people's music on the Mark Radcliffe Show (or heard a song or two there), or maybe you're a Long Ryders/country rock fan, or have heard his name mentioned in relation to Gram Parsons - I'd really recommend giving this album a go because the songs herein've got all of that same personality, spirit, warmth and musicality. It's not the sort of album to wave its arms in the air for your attention, not on the size of label to get billboard promotion, but in its own modest way, it's got a helluva range of tones and colours and feelings, and I really think you might like it.

something happened between the last long ryders cd and the solo sid griffin "little victories" and "as certain as sunrise" cd. I felt it was outdated and sounded like something from the late 50's. maybe sid isn't one of the long ryders after all. sorry , but get back to the gene clark sound.
