3.0 out of 5 stars If you like Hunger Games try this 14 Oct 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
When I began reading The Devil's Artwork I was a bit overwhelmed by the technological explanations between Arena & her father. I understand it was crucial to the plot but didn't grab my attention like the prologue of a book should.

Arena & her sister Helena are brought up to be tough warriors & taught how to defend themselves. Arena meets Kace who saves her in the woods when she is being chased by guards for trespassing.

She meets him again at a banquet, wins a little challenge & the reward is to feed her starving clan whose food is being severely rationed. As well as this she has a crush on Kace & she thinks "crap", "holy crap" & "drat" a lot.

I feel the book is mostly aimed at Young Adults & although Arena is a strong headed heroine, I couldn't connect with ber or Kace at all. At some points I felt her mooning over Kace was a tad immature & predictable.

I wouldn't read the rest of this series but would definitely try out other works by the author.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting free book 16 July 2014

I have now got through a few of CM Owens books/trilogys. I found this storyline interesting & would probably read the next two books, but I am not sure it's the best read so far. There are plenty of subplots to keep the reader interested. There are still some proof reading errors, which are annoying, but can be overlooked.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great read! 4 Dec 2014

I really love CM Owens books. This was another great read, the feisty heroine was a bit annoying though with her inability to speak whenever the hunky hero appeared. Only a minor point though, very enjoyable read which I would happily recommend. My favourites by CM Owens remain the Daughters of Aphodite.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing! 13 July 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I love this author! C.M Owens knows how to write! I love Arena, I think she is an amazing character, she isn't a damsel in distress yet every warrior wants to be with her. This book grasped my attention from the beginning and was all I can think about. I adore Kace and Arenas relationship, I think it's great how they are so in love even when they where fighting. This book does have swearing in it but that is it. I think it's defiantly a five star as it is a thrilling, beautiful read that had me hooked in the beginning, can't wait for the next one.
