As a family we love Lilian Hoban's illustrations and this children's story which she has written as well as illustrated is another great success. My three year old grand-daughter loves it and relates to all the little twists and turns in the tale.

So cute! 6 Nov 2005

I love this book. It's great to read to kids or for a beginning reader to read on their own.

Arthur wants to bake Christmas cookies for his parents. Using his sister's EZ Bake Oven, he does just that - only he accidentally uses salt instead of sugar! The cookies come out hard as rocks, and Arthur cries that nothing he makes ever turns out good. But then, he thinks of a different way to use the cookies - a way that they'll last a lot longer, too. Great book for Christmastime.

Another Arthur Misadventure 14 Nov 2012
By ubalu - Published on Amazon.com
This is an entertaining story of Arthur making Christmas cookies using his sister's bake E-Z oven. He refuses to be distracted when his friend invites him to a snowball fight, because he wants to make the cookies for his parents and sister. The author tells the story in such a way that it improves the vocabulary and language use of young readers. In the Arthur books, Arthur is always up to some misadventure. His sister Violet is a lively character. They have interesting friends Norman and Wilma.

The illustrations are brilliant.
Arthur makes the best of a mistake! 25 Dec 2013

This is a great book to demonstrate to early readers a way to make the best of an unexpected set-back. When Arthur's mistake makes his cookies inedible, he makes them into ornaments! Creative! Optimistic! A fabulous example for turning lemons into lemonade!

Lilian Hoban is a wonderful kids writer. We own every one of her Arthur books and they are worth reading over and over. These are very easy to read books for most kids age 5 and up. We started out reading them at age 4 and moved up year after year through each book. Very interesting stories with a lesson to learn in each book. Just love Arthur books.
