By Gareth Wilson - Falcata Times Blog TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback
As a fan of Philips writing, I'd been looking forward to this title for quite some time. I love the worlds he creates, the different situations his characters end up in and of course his writing style which feels quite nostalgic especially when added to the covers that Orbit produces to accompany them.

However that said, I had one major problem with the current release and that was the lead character, I couldn't stand her and as such it didn't matter how much work had gone into the rest of the project that one major niggle kept me from enjoying the title to the full potential. Don't get me wrong, his usual elements are all there but when I can't stand the principle player, I tend to have a hell of a job reading the title to the end. (I still do it, but it really feels like an uphill slog.)

Sadly for me, I prefer other titles by Philip such as Red Claw and Hell Ship but I won't let this title put me off and I'll hope my faith is rewarded in the next book of his to land.

Great character, great plot! 1 Mar 2012

Phillip Palmer has become one of my favorite writers. I impatiently await each new book. As always his characters are the reason we care about his stories. This is a classic action story, with many twists. It helps to read his other books to get a sense of his universe, but not necessary. I picked up one of his books one day by chance and have been hooked ever since! Enjoy

Smart, funny, and a great narrative. 26 Jan 2012
By M. Butler - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Up front, I have to be clear: I'm a huge Palmer fan. I think that his blend of humor and science fiction is exhilarating, and I breathlessly await each new book from this author. Artemis takes place in the same universe as the rest of Palmer's books, but for a variety of reasons it feels more like a sequel to Debatable Space than any of the others. If you enjoyed that book, I don't know why you wouldn't love Artemis as well.

Artemis is ostensibly the (edited) autobiography of a famous hero/villain, and I found it to be extremely readable (with hilarious footnotes, to boot). If you're a fan of The Hitchhiker's Guide, The Sheriff of Yrnameer, you should really read Palmer's work. I wouldn't start with this one, since some of Debatable Space would be spoiled by reading this first, but definitely read it at some point if this type of book is your cup of tea.
