5.0 out of 5 stars album 10 Oct 2011

Got to this through Flying Lotus. Recommend to anyone whose interested in Ninja Tune(Amon Tobin, Coldcut, Cinematic Orch...) type of music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't judge it by its cover. 27 Dec 2010
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Son's favourite listening is Flying Lotus, but I thought, what the hey I'll broaden his horizons a bit, like the old bumper suck-it-and-see albums I remember from ancient history. At first he unwrapped the gift and looked at the cover with indignation 'Mother, explain why have I got this?' I told him to read the playlist and he was absolutely thrilled, as he recognised a few others, along with his favourite. Briliant - did the job.

5.0 out of 5 stars A snapshot of the underground LA music scene 27 July 2007
By Laura R. - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
This compilation is awesome. It's got a little bit of something for everyone. Definitely a crossover album that's hard to define using a single genre. Just Begin by Race of Angels and All the Shallow Deep by Nobody presents Blank Blue are two of my favorite tracks. This CD gives listeners a tantalizing taste of a group of artists that are seldom heard...but ought to be. Sometimes mellow, sometimes edgy...this album will keep you in fascinated suspense.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, positive, avant-garde 29 Jun 2012
By E. Lavan - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Truly a great album. Overall tones are chilled-out and relaxed. It puts my mind at ease and features some of LA's biggest promoters of the city's current underground sound, which in my eyes (and surprisingly) gives off a very positive and peaceful vibe. A must try for those who like the whole Dublab movement and fellow friends: Ammoncontact, Miguel Atwood-Ferguson, Daedelus, Exile, and Gaslamp Killer. The sequel to this is Echo Expansion (2009). Similar albums are Fill the Heart-Shaped Cup, Adventure Time's Dreams of Water Themes, and the "Mochilla Presents" collections.

Hope you enjoy it as much as I did...with an open mind!
4.0 out of 5 stars A very good listen 13 Dec 2012
By james - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I really enjoyed this cd the Exile and flying lotus tracks were what originally drew me to this cd. But to my surprise there was a lot of variety in the different sound and arrangements. Its not all instrumental tracks although they do hold a heavy presence on this compilation. I especially liked tracks 13 and 6 of which I knew nothing about. You will also hear songs from major staples in the L.A. music scene like miguel atwood-ferguson and georgia anne muldrow all in all not a bad purchase wish there were more groups selected and that the cd was longer but for what it is it is terrific.
