There are two different camps in wearable art, the home sewer-crafter group and the artist group. This book definitely covers only the home-sewer crafter group and will not satisfy those who want to become wearable artists, producing works fit for art galleries, art museums and major art to wear fashion shows. However, for a young person just starting out in making his or her own clothes and accessories, it may be too early to tell which camp he or she will ultimately join. Thus, the book is good for this person too. This is a project oriented book with excellent pictures and instructions to take one all the way through doing the particular project. The author is most successful with her jewelry and her fabric collage. I am in the artist camp of wearable art so this book does not fit me very well. This does not mean it is not good but it does mean that if you are also in the artist camp, you are probably not going to find this book worth the money. I took it out from the library and if you are an artist, I suggest you do the same.
