I bought this illustrated edition of The Art of War for a young friend--a British teenager. I chose this edition to introduce Sun Tzu's ideology because I expect the graphics and illustrations to set the background (both the historical and geographical background) for the writing. The original text in classical Chinese is only six thousand over words, but conventional books on The Art of War is either a compilation of extracts plus interpretation or translation plus examples of application. Both types are not suitable to beginning learners who have limited understanding of both the historical and geographic background in ancient China. Hence this book can fill in the lacuna.
