Product Description

The Tube MP is the world?s most popular external tube microphone preamp. Whether you?re working with a digital, computer or analog recording system, the Tube MP?s TEC award nominated design will allow you to obtain professional recording studio results at a fraction of the cost of comparable equipment. The hybrid design of the Tube MP allows it to add warmth and fatness to a signal while maintaining exceptionally low-noise and high quality. While its primary application is to be used with a microphone, the Tube MP is an exceptional direct box - impedance matching, amplifying and improving the sound of any instrument plugged into it. The usage of external mic/line preamps has become increasingly popular over the past several years. The Tube MP offers superior performance and sound quality to the ?on-board? preamps found in today?s low-cost mixers and multi-trackers. It?s sound has been consistently favored over other products costing upwards to ten-times its price. Professional quality sound combined with professional features like: a hand-selected 12AX7a tube, phantom power and phase reverse are what have made the Tube MP a staple in thousands of studios worldwide. 4.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy build, low noise, great value 27 April 2010

I use this for linking a little mic to the computer for recording in line-in mode.
The mic is pretty low output, so I have to use nearlly all the boost functions available
on this unit, which must be a pretty good test.

The noise level is acceptable for my near-broadcast level requirements.
That's in terms of background hiss when recording just spoken voice in very quiet rooms.

Case is made of metal and overal build quality very high.
Inside, if you were thinking it would be very simple, behold the large amount
of additional passive and active components.

Downside - single channel, so you might need more than one for your application.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great bit of kit 11 Dec 2011

You could spend a lot more money and get a lot less. Obviously anyone reading this will already be thinking of buying a pre amp and for what you pay, you get a lot.

I use mine with a Shure M58 and have had nothing but good results. It does exactly what I bought it to do.

This isn't the first bit of ART kit I have bought and it's good sturdy gear for the home recording professional

This a very good preamp with lots of clean gain and zero noise. It has a lovely tone. I use it with a piezo mic into a valve amp for my wifes vocals/harmonica. When setup just right you get good clean vocals with excellent tone and nice break up with the harmonica from the valves in the amp. Simple to use.
Also super fast delivery from Production Rooms.

1.0 out of 5 stars Unreliable 31 July 2011
By The Bod
Bought this Aug 2010 didn't even last till July 2011. Something blew inside now have a constant over crackle. For the price you could say it is good if you consider it disposable and you don't need to rely on it e.g. gigging. Not impressed at all with these valve things and I don't understand why anyone would want to go back to the bad old days when modern equipment has great valve simulation technology, far better sound and variation. This Art Tube mp gets extremely hot and the adapter even hotter. Please don't buy this and put an end to this living in the past lunacy. Try the Behringer MIC 800, it's better and more reliable.
