3.0 out of 5 stars Could be better 16 Feb 2012
By Spidey - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
The art selected for inclusion here is well-chosen, but the reproduction is not. Much of the art appears smaller than it does in the actual comic books, making for a less than thrilling viewing experience. Much of it appears to have been re-colored, which is also disappointing. It's great to see Ditko's original inked pages from Amazing Fantasy, but they appear small and grey. I would have much preferred to see an enlarged, if not full-size, reproduction--we're here to experience the artwork after all. Again, nice choices (I wouldn't have minded even more Romita Sr. myself), and the editorial is informative, but when it comes to perusing artwork, bigger is better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Art of Spider-Man Classic, a must have for Spidey fans. 5 Jan 2012
By Vulture Girl - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
I,ve been a Spidey fan and reading his comics since childhood. Since his humble beginning in Amazing Fantasy #15 in 1962, Spider-Man has been one of Marvel's most iconic and idolized character.
I first saw Art of Spider-Man Classic at Barnes and Noble. After recieving this amazing book, I was in 7th heaven. Art of Spider-Man Classic features artwork from all of the different artists who have drawn Spidey, from Steve Ditko to Humberto Ramos. Many of these unique artists have helped innovate comics' greatest character.

Art of Spider-Man classic spotlights some of the finest images by the aforementioned illustrators featuring the Spidey we all know and love-from fifty years of Amazing Spider-Man to iconic-art from Marvel-Team Up, Web of Spider-Man, Spectacular Spider-Man and Secret Wars. You'll meet Peter Parker, the everyman behind the mask, Gwen Stacy, Mary-Jane and the over lovers of his life, Dr.Octopus, Green Goblin and the more of Spidey's deadliest rogues and the variety of every other supporting characters who made Spidey who is, including Marvel's other heroes.

As an avid Spider-man fan and Marvel collector, I,m very happy to have this in my Marvel collection. I would highly recommend this to any Spider-Man and Marvel fan. Makes a superb gift as well. Pick this up today. You won't regret it.
5.0 out of 5 stars An enjoyable read! 7 Jan 2014

It had the artists that I was expecting, but there were a lot that I had forgotten about. Ditko, Romita, Buscema, Andru, Mooney and Kane were well represented. There were a lot of less stand out artists that I knew by name but would not have been able to name them from memory. It was an enjoyable trip down memory lane!
