3.0 out of 5 stars OK 3 Dec 2009
Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
The positives:

Hunt for the Puppeteer has great graphics, reasonable voice acting and works well on older PCs. With one exception, the puzzles and tasks are logical and not too hard to figure out.

It's not as enjoyable as Still Life and the Agatha Christie games, but it is easier than the Sherlock Holmes series.

It's cheap and good value.

The negatives:

The game is extremely linear and certain things can't be done unless you have spoken to a person, or done something with an inventory item(s). At times, this is very frustrating.

There is a slider puzzle which takes ages to crack and has to be done in order to progress to the next bit of the game.

There are some glaring inconsistencies with game events which I won't spoil by describing, but are really silly.

Overall

Worth a try at the price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Hunt for the Puppeteer 19 Dec 2009
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
I tend to buy my games through reading suppliers reviews and also reading through walkthrough pages. I am also influenced by the game providers, e.g The Adventure Company usually sells good games. Hunt for the Puppeteer moves along quite nicely and is a well balanced story plus puzzles

Entertaining game, excellent graphics, puzzles challenging but not overly difficult.Minor irritation is the going backwards and forwards to complete tasks but overall a most enjoyable game.Would recommend it providing you are not looking for brain crunching puzzles.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very good game 19 Feb 2011

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I wanted to add my opinion as I think this is a very good game. I had played the first one and enjoyed it and didn't buy this one as the reviews put me off. As there didn't seem to be anything else I fancied at the time and the price was good I thought I'd give it a shot. I'm pleased I did. If you enjoy the traditional point and click you will enjoy this. My favourites are the Broken Sword, Siberia and Tunguska series and it's very much in the same vein. The acting isn't a patch on Broken sword but it's still not a bad game. The Puzzles are managable without the use of the question mark facility which you can use if you want extra help. I've given it top marks because I think it deserves better credit than it's been given. It may not be everyones cup of tea but as I said if you like a point and click this isn't a bad game.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but not brilliant 12 Aug 2014

I like the idea of the game, and the crime and 'csi' alike qualities of it. However, in my experience, the game got boring fast and didn't pick up much. For the price I can't complain, but it's not a favourite. The game is difficult enough that you can actually concentrate and think about what to do next, but at times the gameplay became dull.

This is a fairly decent game, with logical thinking and a bit detective work you will have it in the bag. Buy it and try it.
