A Few Good Patterns 30 Sep 2010
By Rae
Format:Paperback
I bought this book for the Arlene's World of Lace patterns which are absolutely stunning. The rest of the book is okay but nothing really groundbreaking and after a friend looked through it she pointed out that a lot of the patterns have previously been lifted straight from previously published books along with the photographs so not that many new patterns. A bit of a con really unless they are patterns you don't already own

Lace knitting is my preference, and am doing the front pattern, (worked from the top down). Also, a knitted dress going into a rolled halter neck could be worth a try.

An open lace beige cardigan with front ties only has not got pattern taken to the ends of the row in the picture and if you made this, daresay you'd have to work the increases out yourself to avoid jagged plain knit sections on either side of the sleeve seam. Unsightly and amazing to see it displayed like that in a book for lace knitters.

Too many scarves/shawls/boleros. Lots of dated patterns in simple shapes which I wouldn't go the the trouble of making nowadays. Could work most of that out without a book like this.

Disappointed 20 July 2010
By Rachel W. - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is one of the extremely rare occasions that I pre-ordered a knitting book before I could check out what patterns were in it on Ravelry. I was very disappointed- 5 or 6 of the patterns in this book were directly from Runway Knits by Berta Karapetyan, and I think that most, if not all, of the patterns in this book were previously published in other books. I wish I'd saved my money.

Recycled patterns 17 July 2010

I was hugely disappointed. Many of these patterns have been published before. I was expecting new,not recycled.Spend your money on yarn, not this book.

Some patterns missing most common sizes 22 July 2010
By DFE - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I recognize many of the patterns. The last chapter consists of several patterns from "A "Fine Fleece" by Lisa Lloyd which I own. The two patterns I was interested in knitting had only three sizes, 28", 42", and 52" chest! And it had a small pattern repeat and standard construction so there was absolutely no reason to leave out the most common sizes. Some of the patterns had 10 different sizes in two inch increments, some the typical 34", 36", 38" and some were missing all of the most common sizes. If you don't already own most of the patterns and can find the size you are looking for then it is a decent collection of patterns.
