Product Description

Product Description
This book is a classical study of image-making, which seeks the answer to an apparently simple but fundamental question : why is there such a thing as style?

4.0 out of 5 stars If you are a thoughtful visual artist, buy this!, 17 Jan 2002
Even though the book is old, and the language scientific, there are many clues here for the interrogative artist. With a focus on history and the evolving of imagery, we are left with a greater understanding of the illustrators task. A truly fun read, attempting to explain why people perceive and interpret as they do.

(REAL NAME)
The classic Gombrich text, old fashioned, and a bit rambling, but all-in-all well worth the price.
