Book Description

Looking to improve your child's art ability? This book is a continuation of Art For Kids: An Art Instruction Book, which laid down the seven building blocks of how to create art. Art For Kids: Learn To Use Color brings into focus and detail one of those building blocks - color. Written for "kids of all ages" as one happy parent exclaimed about the first volume, Learn To Use Color explains creative concepts while using simple language even for elementary school kids. It is packed with illustrations, and uses a "How-To" approach showing the child how to apply that which was presented in each chapter.

5.0 out of 5 stars Useful Book For Adults And Children 13 May 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
As an adult I never really "got" art as a child and feel like I missed out on a vital piece of childhood and being creative. This book, although aimed at children is also great for adults/parents (like me who didnt study art at school/wasnt very good at art) to reconnect and re-learn the beauty of mixing colours and reconnecting with inner artist. The book teaches you everything about colour, how to blend and mix colours, what different colours represent and how you can use different colours to enhance your artwork. Lovely book for parents/teachers to share with children.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliantly Colorful Book 9 May 2014
By Emmie - Published on

I purchased this book to use for the kids that I take care of. We enjoy to spend a lot of time painting, and doing many art projects together. Painting is our favorite. As much as I love colors, I don't much have the eyes for mixing them into the brilliant creations as many great painters do.
This book has opened my eyes and given me to know-how to get that magical mix of colors. Now, with the help of this book, I have hanging on my wall, painting sensations that the kids have completed- using the help of this marvelous book.
It is simple to understand, instructive, and full of cute, eye-catching pictures. Everybody who wishes to teach their kids about color blending, should definitely have a copy of this on their kids' shelf. It's even great for adult beginners!

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful little book! 6 May 2014

Art for Kids is all about teaching kids what colors are, how they make you feel, how to use them in your own art ... just everything about color. I also loved the pictures the author uses to illustrate what she's trying to teach, especially the works by Van Gogh. Beautiful to look at but also interesting to see how the author breaks out the colors to show children how to use different colors to bring out specific feelings in the viewer. All of the teachings in this little book were very well thought out and illustrated.

I enjoyed this little book very much and will give it to my granddaughter who loves to draw and paint.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great book for kids! 22 May 2014

Art for kids, learn to use color, is a great way to teach kids and also a very good refresher course for more experienced painters. It showed how color can emphasize mood and how to use this for a type of subject matter. There was also a good section on mixing colors and examples of the fine differences within a color, cadmium red and alizarin crimson for instance. There was a great section on charting colors. A description of tints and hues, blacks and whites within colors. All together it was an entertaining a very useful book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tons of Fun! 1 May 2014

I loved this simple little book. It's great for those with small children interested in art. It teaches the simple use of colors in artwork, but does so in a way that children can easily understand. No boring nonsense or filler fluff in this book, but it's just a great manual for kids who want to know more about colors
