Product Description

Product Description

While the main focus for this intriguing book is centred on graphic art and illustration, numerous examples of other forms of Art Deco are also featured. Nestled amongst the posters and paintings, sculpture, objects d'art and jewellery assert their similarity, whether through line, form or theme. These echoes serve to show the creativity fertility of the period as styles and ideas traversed artistic media.

By Mrs. F. S. Haynes VINE™ VOICE
Format:Hardcover
For any lover of art deco this book is a gem. From an interested beginner to a serious study this book is just lovely. From the embossed front cover the book is pure class.Colour photos or illustrations on every page, and each page has a colour border, it is a real treat. I bought it for my daughter who loves art deco illustrations and the fashion drawings in here are lovely. There are plenty of chapters on the movement, fashion and advertising with lots of small sub headings so it is easy just to read bits here and there as pictures catch your eye. The photographs, of jewellery, wall lights, vases and clocks to name but a few are in themselves stunning. So if you love anypart of the art deco movement you will love this book.

I bought this book for my grand daughter who is taking A level Art & Design.

The photographs are absolutely beautiful. and as she was looking for images of advertising in the Art Deco period this was really helpful. Her art master seemed very impressed, I understand, when she took it into school!!.

Engaging Introduction/Study 9 Mar 2010
By Michael Wolf - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
Exquisite photography, elucidative text and a worthwhile purchase for the nonchalant. Of course it lacks the depth of books costing three and four times more but what a sweet way to whet your whistle! 5 stars for quality. (FWIW-Found my copy at B&N for $17.95 3/8/2010)
