This beautifully-packaged box caught my eye one rainy afternoon at Tate Modern a few months ago. I am a Primary School teacher, and the ideas in this box were exactly what I had been looking for. I have enthused children from 5 to 11 with the work of Mondrian, Hockney, Caulfield, Picasso, Hepworth and more thanks to Art in a Box, and I have many more lessons ahead already planned for me! The children come to recognise the style of most of the artists, and really enjoy the processes Sarah Richardson suggests on the back of each card. The pictures themselves are beautifully reproduced; I have laminated all mine and use them for art and literacy lessons, and they're great with displays. Wonderful!

Format: Hardcover
This is an excellent resource on many levels. The pictures in this collection of 20 famous works of art are beautifully produced and would make a great wall display - but make sure you have tried out all the activities first! It is an interesting and varied collection of artwork, carefully chosen to appeal to children. Each A5 card has suggestions on how to look into and appreciate the work of art, and lots of activities to encourage children to develop their own creativity - ideas include drawing, collage, bubble prints and sculpture. These would work just as well at home with one or two children, or in the classroom. The cards come in a sturdy box that will keep them safe.

This box of projects is a great idea and uses unusual, possibly less well known artists. Which is refreshing & fun for adult too. There is a complete and achievable art idea on each card. Highly recommended. ENJOY
