This is a travel book with a difference, there are 500 festivals listed that take place throughout the year. The author has taken the time to research each one and give a brief history of how the festival started. Some of them go back many hundreds of years. It is a book that you can dip in and out of at your leisure, if you are planning a trip it would be good to look up the country to see if there is a festival as the author makes you want to go and see and experience them. It also has beautiful photos to go with them.

This is one of the best photo books I have had the chance to leaf through... Awesome photos, insightful commentary and well above the average for photo journalism books.

This is a gorgoeus, visual photo book of festivals around the world. I'd been to a few, but realise I've been to very few indeed.

The descriptions are great too, giving a tantalising peek behind the indivual character of each festivan, and some context behind the photos.

I'm using this book to plan imagaery, and hopefully real trip in my imagination.

This fantastic and comprehensive book is a real call to arms -- makes me want to get out and see more of the world, now! Which is what a good travel book should do. Part resource, part inspiration and a really informative read. The photos are great, the research and the amount of information and level of detail here is seriously impressive. This book will be the starting point for a lot of trips I want to make.
