5.0 out of 5 stars Thanks, Arnie...., 5 Sep 2002
By J. Tuffin "jontytuffin" (north yorkshire) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is one of the unlikeliest of books, really. I'm not a big fan of Arnie's films. They're okay, but not my type of thing. So when a friend urged me - continually! - to read this, I was sceptical. I hugely enjoyed it though, and would recommend it wholeheartedly. I was interested by the section of the book that deals with exercise and nutrition, and that offered me a way into it. I expected that part of the book to be good, and it was. What surprised me though, was the quality of the autobiographical section. It gives a fascinating insight into the mindset, and the methods, of a very successful man. You may, like me, be somewhat ambivalent about the form of success that the author has achieved, but succeed he undoubtedly has. The clear and dedicated way he managed this is set out here in a simple, formulaic way. The clarity is such that it is impossible not to be affected in a very positive way. So, all in all, it's a great book. I've got great deal of admiration for its author now. It really is a very uplifting read.... Thanks, Arnie.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent and motivational, 4 Jan 2000
By A Customer
Reading the words of Arnold Schwarzenegger is very motivational. In this book, he really tells you what can be achieved by one, dedicated person. The autobiographical section is excellent, and so is the excercises section. The content is a bit dated, but the training principles are the same- the book really motivates you, both to work out and also to sort your life out. This is an excellent book, one that you will read over and over

4.0 out of 5 stars BIG (but not yet famous), 26 April 2002
By nvtc16v@aol.com (S.E England) - See all my reviews
This book gives a very good insight into the man behind the muscles, although by no means an in depth profile it comes across as a very honest account of a young man determined to achieve his dreams. The book,as the title suggests, only covers the bodybuilding years prior to Arnie,s screen career but his personality and determination give a clear indication as to how he became one of the most unlikely of Hollywood stars. The second half of the book is taken up with exercise programmes and advice which may not appeal to those just after a biographical read but will be of great intrest to those hoping to follow in Arnie,s footsteps.
