3.0 out of 5 stars A bit samey, but all in all a fun shooter 12 Oct 2011
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
A lot of websites have slated this game saying "Its not half as good as the PS3 version" (yeah, that old chestnut!), but I found it a lot of fun.

The game follows the adventures of Rios and Salem, a couple of bounty hunters who are in the wrong place at the wrong time when chaos strikes Shanghai. You find yourself up against mercenaries, falling debris, and exploding buildings as you fight to escape the city.

The game is in the third person, and reminds me somewhat of Chaos Engine for the Amiga (if anyone remembers that, fair play to you!). Best described as a "shoot em up on foot", your duty is mostly to dispatch bad guys in a hail of gun/flame/rocket fire. There is a good selection of firepower, and many ways which you can level up the weapons to make them harder/better/faster/stronger.

The gameplay doesn't change much through the game, but you can't deny the enjoyment that comes from killing bad guys with automatic/rocket propelled/incendary rapid-fire weaponry. There is some co-operative nature to the game, you must keep an eye on your teammate and revive him if he's fallen, as he does to you when you've fallen. Only when neither of you can revive the other do the players finally die. This can be a bit of a shortfall, in that the two of you are basically invincible as long as you can keep giving each other medial attention. Makes it too easy I think. But there are sectionas that you'll need to replay several times.

The storyline (such as it is) progresses at a very gradual pace and doesn't really get going until right at the end of the game. Throughout the game you are also given moral choices to make: do you kill the shop assistant to take her food, or do you let her live? (doesn't actually happen in the game, I'm just giving an example).
