From the Back Cover

A PENETRATING LOOK INSIDE AN ARMOURED CAVALRY REGIMENT: THE TECHNOLOGY, THE STRATEGIES AND THE PEOPLE – PROFILED BY TOM CLANCY, NO.1 BESTSELLING NOVELIST.

In 'Submarine', the first book in the Tom Clancy Military Library, the bestselling author of 'Debt of Honour', 'The Hunt for the Red October' and 'Clear and Present Danger' captured the reality of life aboard a nuclear warship. Now, in 'Armoured Warfare', Tom Clancy turns his attention to the army, and with the same compelling, you-are-there immediacy of his acclaimed fiction provides detailed descriptions of tanks, helicopters, artillery and more – the brilliant technology behind the US Army. He captures military life – from the drama of combat to the daily routine – with total accuracy, and reveals the roles and missions that have in recent years distinguished the fighting forces.

'Armoured Warfare' includes:
• Descriptions of the M1A2 Main Battle Tank, the AH-64A Apache Attack Helicopter and more
• Strategies behind the Desert Storm assault
• Exclusive photographs, illustrations and diagrams
• From West Point cadet to Desert Storm commander – an interview with a combat cavalry officer on the rise

4.0 out of 5 stars The Best In A Series That Was A Few Books Too Long, 4 Aug 2005
By Heather L. Parisi "Robert and Heather Parisi" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Armoured Warfare: Guided Tour of an Armoured Cavalry Regiment (The Tom Clancy military library) (Hardcover)
Yes, I have read the whole series and I can say that this one was the best read and the most useful edition to me. It included some very interesting anecdotes describing the effects of munitions on some of our best armor, such as the M1 tank and the Bradley Armored Vehicle. Also, some neat desciptions of how these and many other of our recent weapons might and have been deployed in combat. The interview with General Franks was like all the others in this series, a bit long and patronizing, but I felt somewhat reassured in our military leadership after reading it.

While there is nothing you can't find elsewhere in this reader, it does provides comprehensive and useful information to a literate but relatively uniformed audience [like myself] in a way other books in this genre seem unable to do. Also, of all the books in this series I felt that this one had the most real substance and utility for me. Lastly, the book includes a substantial list of suggested reading and viewing materials that includes items somewhat available at the public library and for sale through Amazon and other mainstream sources.
