Product Description

The Armored Core series is renowned in the mech action genre for its intense one-on-one battles and customization options. Armored Core 5 is a new entry that revolutionizes the series with more content than the previous games, a completely new atmosphere, and a robust offline mode. In addition, the online mode has been newly designed to focus on huge team-based battles on a global scale. Featuring mechs or "Armored Cores" that are smaller in scale than in previous games, Armored Core 5 centers more on tactics and effectively utilizing the geography of a level rather than just relying on attacks.

  • Defend and conquer territories: Prepare for enemy invasion! Online players can invade your Territory even when you're not online. Set Your Defense System strategically to fight automatically against other players and protect your dependency. When you're online, fight in PvP online team battles to defend against enemies invading your territories.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stunning and great even for newbies ! 5 April 2012
By Weasel
Platform for Display:Xbox 360
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
In this review ill give you an overview and a description of what the game is like for some one new or curious about the game.
Firstly im a teen who loves games such as transformers and robotic stuff so this game quickly came to my attention and my a friend of mine also gave it a recommendation. The story is you work for an corporation that runs evrything but then a rebellion starts in your robot (mech/ac) you fight back but to only change to the rebellion dew to witnessing an event.

GOOD THINGS:
Amazing customisation
Great co-op and story line
Feels rewarding
Amazing online
Challenging boss fights
Graphicly brilliant
Fun for hours
Will take ages to complete fully so your never bored
Amazing online intros for your mech
Easy leveling system
Even though a lot is going on in the game the consoles handle it well no game freezing.

BAD THINGS:
Story line is hard to follow
Best if you had another mate to play with
No split screen
Music can often freeze a bit (rarley)
Dupstep, electronic and japanese rock (if not a fan you can also listen to your own game audio not affected)
Can often be one sided (online)
Hard online for new teams or players as there are much higher ranks
Dedicated servers for Europe, America, Asia and others
Very fast paced game (takes some time to get used to)
Cant turn into vechiles unless a tank rig but its very very slow

So overall i highy recommend the game great co-op and story amazing online and teams also a great choice of customiseation with colours, armour, guns, rigs. So if you fancy a change of game or another brilliant game to your collection i would highly recommend this.

Great combat, perhaps the best in the series so far.
Great customisation, albeit not quite as deep as For Answer.
The story is...there? It's either suffered terribly in translation, or it's really trying hard to be artistic, and failing.

The game is mainly centred around online team battles between human players, the game is pretty strong in this respect from what I've heard, but I don't have enough friends to form a team with, nor am I comfortable enough with fighting other random people for this part of the game to appeal to me.

The single player aspects are ok, if on the weak side.

Recommended for competitive players and those who are fans of games with high amounts of customisation( giant mech customisation in this case).

1.0 out of 5 stars A haphazard mess! 5 May 2013
By Ryan
Platform for Display:Xbox 360
Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
Controls: Having played Armoured core (AC) games from all eras (including the original) I have good experiences with all the generations and this game is a shambles. The control system is appealing! There is no sustained boost, only a sudden one that uses 30% of your energy in one go. You spend half the time hovering in the air which is slow and cumber-son and leaves you exposed and meaning movement is usually rather slow. Due to there being no straight up boost, to get anywhere remotely high you have jump, which half the time send you flying all over the place (mostly straight into enemy fire). Honestly, the basic control system was better on the 1997 original. To add to the trouble, AC5's instruction booklet has no useful instructions and myself and many others had to go online just to find out how to work the thing.

Story: This is geared up not as a single player expirence, but a multilayer one. There are 10 story mission in total. They don't explain much such as why the main character (you) switches sides from mission 00 to mission 01. There are a bunch of 'order missions' you can play. However, they are repetitive; you either fight some enemies (again and again and again) or fight an AC which unlike other AC games don't have very interesting pilots (unlike many other AC games) and the fights are similarly dull.

Combat: I will say that one reeding feature of this game is its graphic quality, which are sublime. Additionally, you get to fight on a variety of battle fields form desserts to snow tops. However, due to the battlefield limit on EVERY map (you can't go past that line or you fail you mission) means most of these must be observed from afar. Also, the enemy can go outside these line and you arn't allowed to follow, which can be rather annoying.

5.0 out of 5 stars Come Heavy Or Not At All! 19 May 2012

=== GOOD BITS ===
Okay so Armored Core V is yet another mech based action game by From Software and published by Bandai Namco. The good things about the game include the non-stop action through the whole of the game. Also most of the games graphical features are pretty good with a few exceptions. The best part of the game for me was the tons of side missions the game has available for you to play along with 10 story missions. The multiplayer options are fun and includes team vs team or you can join someone else's team for a mission to earn money as well as respect. Another top feature about this game is that you can actually create a team to fight for territories online, so basically you and many of your online friends can be on the same team against people across the world. There are tons of customization options available to gamers with almost every mech on the game looking different to what other gamers would have. There is a shop to buy more parts and you can also find parts in levels or after leveling up more parts become available in the shop. Sound effects in the game are fantastic and definitely bring the game to life and make it more exciting, the music is full on but works really well in my opinion.

=== BAD BITS ===
Okay there isn't an awful lot wrong with the game but there are a few bits that could of been improved slightly. Whilst the online play is great and the main game mode is quite good, the game itself does seem to get a little repetitive at times. Also not everything in the game looks amazing because things such as structures look quite weak graphical wise. The game to newcomers might be a little confusing because most of it is explained just not very well. Controls are a little dense as well. The story to the game?? Well there isn't much of one....
