THE FULL FAMILY PHENOMENON OFFICIAL TV TIE-IN TO THE HIT QUIZ SHOW

Product Description

Are You Smarter than a 10 Year Old? has been a long-standing TV hit in the US for just under 10 years and it now airs for the first time in the UK this October on Sky One. From the creators of other hit shows such as The Apprentice and Survivor, TV legend, Noel Edmonds, of Deal or No Deal, dons his mortarboard and goes back to the classroom for this new, hotly anticipated quiz show. Adults are put to the test as they tackle questions from the national curriculum that any 10 year old should be able to answer for a large cash prize - often with hilarious consequences. If they lose they have to drop out of school and be forced to utter TV's most embarrassing line: "I am not smarter than a 10 year old."

In this official book to accompany the programme, you will find more than 800 questions on everything from history and french to geography, maths and music. All the questions are taken from the national curriculum and that any 6-10 year old should be able to answer e.g. what are the three distinct sections of a river called? If 2 angles of a triangle are 70 degrees and 65 degrees what value is the missing angle? The average 10 year old can answer these questions. Can you?

Einstein was smarter than a 10 year old, Stephen Hawkins is smarter than a 10 year old but can the same be said for you? Find out just how much you have forgotten from school with this fun book that will test your wits. Can you work with your family to show them just how clever you are? Perfect for kids who want to prove just how dumb dad is and for parents to show their kids just how much they know! This quiz book will have all the family involved.

Very disappointed with the book.. all very easy, none of the harder type questions shown on the tv programme. If the show was based on these questions I would win the jack pot every time!
Don't buy....

The book was as new. It was in good condition just as stated in the description. The book was despatched and arrived very quickly. It was set out well with chapters as individual challenge rounds. This made the book easy to follow and use in a quiz situation which is what i wanted it for.

I've never seen the show, but I'd guess that most people thinking about buying this would be its fans, who won't need me to tell them about the show anyway.I hope the TV show provides a little more entertainment value than the book.

In the book the questions are arranged in 41 rounds. Each round begins with questions which a 6 year old should know the answer to, rising to the dizzy heights of questions which a ten year old should know the answer to. The questions are, as you'd expect, extremely straightforward, and lets be honest, easy. That's OK as long as its what you're looking for. I am staging a Mastermind-type competition for children at my school, and this will be helpful in putting together the General Knowledge round.

That's the only reason why I bought it, though. It's a very average TV cash-in, and I can't see that its particularly good value. Claims have been made that there are over 800 questions in the book, which is really nothing to write home about compared with other books of the genre. However there are 41 rounds, and each round comprises of only 11 questions. That's only 451, unless I've miscounted. Even a ten year old could tell you that. Its produced in the ubiquitous - Who Wants To Be A Millionaire - multiple choice format, and the look of each page is rather dull and uninviting.

It's the kind of thing I suppose you might buy for a bit of fun with your family, but its really kids stuff, and not for the adult quizzer at all. Give it a miss.
