Product Description

All seven episodes from the fourth series of the classic camp sitcom, set in the clothes department of the Grace Brothers store. In this series, the staff are unhappy by plans to open up the shop earlier, Mr Grainger (Arthur Brough) is made temporary manager and promptly sacks Mrs Slocombe (Mollie Sugden), and the staff prepare for Mrs Slocombe's fiftieth birthday. Episodes are: 'No Sale'; 'Top Hat and Tails'; 'Forward Mr Grainger'; 'Fire Practice'; 'Fifty Years On'; 'Oh What a Tangled Web'; and 'The Father Christmas Affair'.

Synopsis

The staff at Grace Brothers rarely sold anything, but there were always certainties about the great 70s series: Mr Humphries was "free", Mrs Slocombe was worried about her "pussy" and Young Mr Grace would appear to declare "You've all done very well!" Alongside Captain Peacock, Mr Grainger, Mr Rumbold, Mr Lucas and Miss Brahms they filled the store with comic bickering, preposterous sales ideas and almost any excuse for more hilarious costumes and so created one of the sauciest, campest and funniest sitcoms of the decade. Includes all the episodes from Season Four plus the 1976 Christmas Special.

Episode titles: "No Sale", "Top Hat and Tails", "Forward Mr. Grainger", "Fire Practice", "Fifty Years On", "Oh What a Tangled Web", "The Father Christmas Affair".

5.0 out of 5 stars BritSmut at it's best 26 Jan 2012

When the price is right, I'm buying these, one DVD at a time, for my grand-daughter She worked her way through Hi-di-hi (at my expense) and now she's caught up on "Are you Being Served?" Nobody does it better than us Brits (many Americans love this type of Brit comedy, it's cheek, it's earthiness, it's simplicity) She hasn't really got deeply into the "Carry on" series yet but, knowing her, she will (hopefully after she's started work)

Strictly for those who don't mind stereotypical busty blondes (the late, great Wendy Richard), total camperama (the equally late, equally great John Inman), "pussy" jokes, (Molly Sugden - oh dear, are they all late and great?). But on a cold, rainy Friday this is a good night in!
