Both brilliantly written and illustrated, these books take the imaginative step of putting the reader in the position of a bug. "Are you a Bee?" is surprisingly comprehensive for a book whose target audience is probably 5-7 year olds. As someone who has always had an interest in wildlife, even I learned some things from this book. My six year old will happily read it by herself - she was especially interested in the workers (girls) having so much to do including the feeding of greedy bee grubs and the comment about drones not doing much! Her brother, a pre-schooler, LOVES the pictures. It's great - every school/library should have this book!

This is an important book - children will enjoy the sweet illustrations and story but more than that, it awakens in them an interest and appreciation for the honey bee - and our future generation certainly need to care about this vulnerable little creature as they fight for survival. This isnt mentioned in the story of course - just a lovely tale about the honey bee!

I used this book as an introduction to our product on bees with my 5 - 7 Montessori class. The illustrations caught the children's attention and gave them an understanding of what was going on. The book covers a lot of bee information without being too informative and the children picked up on many ideas e.g. most bee are females. I really recommend this book.
