That question is; "Are we alone?"
When working on the film "2001 - A Space Odyssey," Stanley Kubrick had 21 leading scientists interviewed in film during which they each speculated about the possibility of life in the Universe. Kubrick's own views are recorded here as being; "there must be countless billion planets where biological life has arisen and the odds of some proportion of life developing intelligence are high..."
Anthony Frewin worked with Stanley Kubrick for over 25 years - including on that particular film. He has added extensive information to those original interviews which, with a comprehensive introduction and seven pages of bibliography, brings a whole new dimension to the subject. I did find the foreword by Arthur C. Clarke to be quite disappointing because it adds nothing to the book.
Nevertheless, this is an excellent addition to the genre and should not be overlooked by anyone with an interest in what the experts say in answer to that all-important question.
