Product Description

Product Description

Is it Provence? Is it the Languedoc? No, it's the Ardeche! Like them it's French, scenic and charming, and blessed with hours of hot, southern sunshine. Bordered by the Rhone valley and encompassing dramatic gorges, caves, rivers and lakes, the region is famed for its spectacular landscape. There is plenty to do and see - climbing, rambling, watersports, even ballooning (birthplace of the Montgolfier brothers) Hilltop villages, Roman remains, abbeys and monasteries abound. The food is simple but delicious in that effortless rural French way, markets are ubiquitous and traditional crafts plentiful. This guide aims to help you have a successful holiday whatever your interests.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ardeche Wine Lover, 13 Feb 2007
By Neil B. Latham "Ardeche Wine Lover" (Westbury UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I found this book a must have and it ranks as one of the best travel guides I have come across. I have 2 young chidren (5&8) and it was invaluable in sorting out our planned days away from the Mobile home. It is accurate, colourful, easy to use & essential for exploring this fantastic and unknown (to Brits) part of France. Oh and the wine is tip top as well !

4.0 out of 5 stars Holiday Planner, 25 Mar 2009
By S. Wenn (England) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is the only detailed guide I could find on the region, but it seems very comprehensive and well worth the money. As the size is almost pocket sized, the text is quite small so it needs good eyesight to be able to read. Overall well laid out and just what I need for a fortnight's holiday.
