Product Description

Product Description

Ardbeg is described as 'unquestionably the greatest distillery on earth'. It was established in 1815 by the MacDougalls. Ardbeg is located on the stormy and rugged south coast of the island of Islay, off the West Coast of Scotland. This irrepressible, complex spirit is the peatiest and smokiest of all the Islay Malts and yet is perfectly balanced by an intriguing sweetness. Its limited availablity and reputation amongst connoisseurs make Ardbeg a much sought after luxury by those 'in the know'.

If you are a fan of Islay Malt then you absolutely have to try Ardbeg it is quite simply the best peaty/ smokey whisky available, every peaty whisky has its sweet spot and Arbeg have manufactured it to perfection you get a slight sweet punch whilst a bonfire pulls through leaving you feeling pleasantly overwhelmed by its power, simply fantastic.

This is the best scotch out there. At 46% you sure don't need much. A little goes a long way. Great smokey flavor. If you are a scotch drinker this is a must try.

Been a lover of Laphroaig for years and have just tried this glorious Islay malt. I found it sweeter/fruitier and not as peaty as Lahroaig, which is drier by comparison and has a strong iodine taste. Definitely one to stock up on!

Quite frankly, for the price, and considering its a main stream whisky, this version of Adberg is outstanding. It's the second bottle I've had and definitely takes pride of place in my cabinet. Presentation is great, and has a wonderful nose to start. Definitely get some decent whisky glasses as part of the experience is swishing it around in the glass and inhaling the wonderfully sweet aromas before tasting.

If you've never had a peaty whisky before - start with this one. You won't be disappointed.

...along with Lagavulin of being my favourite whisky (at least among the readily available and affordable whiskies - my second favourite whisky I have ever had was a bottle of 30 year old Ardbeg, surpassed only by a bottle of 30 year old Springbank which was the very nectar of the Gods - sadly I don't have quite such a large proportion of disposable income to throw around these days as I did in my youth). Peaty, but not so peaty as Lagavulin (or Laphroaig), possessing a decent level of mildly pungent smokiness balanced by smooth, silky sweetness, its pale gold hue belies its character. A rich, complex and very satisfying variety.

I'm not going to go into huge, pretentious detail here.

Ardbeg is a true legend in the world of whisky - intensely smoky and peaty, it's the exemplar of Islay malt. Not to be taken lightly, as it packs a powerful burst of long-lasting flavour, this whisky is infinitely satisfying and very special.

I buy it, believing that I'll make it last, but can never resist the temptation of "just another wee dram". Pure, distilled pleasure.
