This is better than it looks in the picture, 24 April 2005
This review is from: Archos Gmini XS200 20GB Digital Audio Player - Silver (Electronics)
After plenty of deliberation I finally bought myself an MP3 player. Price was a primary concern, followed by capacity, followed by battery life. Oh yeah - and i couldn't have bought an iPod of any type on principle!! 20Gb - Physically smaller than an ipod mini (in height at least) and a claimed 10 Hr Battery - Archos have a great product here. When you open this and actually hold it in your hand - the pictures on the website dont do it justice. Pros: Very solid (feels like metal but I might be wrong) Its very compact and can easily be used one-handed. Just Drag and Drop It needs no drivers for any windows platform over 98. No silly management software needed either. Still testing battery life but 8+ Hrs continuous play achieved before i went to bed and it was still going strong. Simple to Use, plenty of options It's not an iPod! Yay! Cons Poor Headphones - if you are an audiophile, fine enough otherwise. Few optional extras (no cases etc readily available) No Better, equally sized, equally priced, option - simple decision

A Superlative Mobile Music Machine, 5 Feb 2005
This review is from: Archos Gmini XS200 20GB Digital Audio Player - Silver (Electronics)
One thursday in February 2005, I decided to buy a MP3 player. Although I loved the I-Pod design, countless sales assistants told me to look elsewhere, citing compatability worries and mediocre sound quality. Having never heard of Archos, I checked several independent reviews. Quickly satisfied by rave reports, I took the plunge. ...Wow! The Gmini is a gorgeous, expensive looking and feeling product in its own right; it's light yet substantial, elegantly designed and perfectly tactile. The Archos was everything I'd wished and more. Interface worries need not concern all but the most butter-fingered simpletons - they're intuitive and effective. Paired up with a set of Sennheiser PX100 headphones (another bargain) it sounded fantastic. I have 500+ CDs and am struggling to stuff the little Gmini, even though I use 256kb/s MP3s. I-Pod? There is an alternative. Buy one now!

Simply The Best! A Purchase You Won't Regret, 16 Feb 2005
This review is from: Archos Gmini XS200 20GB Digital Audio Player - Silver (Electronics)
I bought this mp3 player just a few weeks ago and haven't regretted it for a second. For anyone out there looking through the mass of MP3 players available I STRONGLY reccomended The Archos Gmini XS200. Once getting this the first thing that struck me is how small it really is, but there is so much more to this player. Unlike many MP3 players today (All players by Creative for example) the Archos offers drive letter support. No software or drivers is needed, you simple connect the player to your computer via USB, drag and drop all your music into the player and in a few minutes you're ready to go. This means the device also acts as a portable storage device for music or any anything else. Using the player is amazingly simple, at first i thought because there is just three buttons that functionality would be limited but this is not the case, using the small button in the middle primarily actually works very well. Archos have done a great job with this player and as it's both smaller and cheaper than many other 20gb players this is a great buy.
