This is an excellent, stylish mp3 player and data storage device. It features excellent and clear sound quality. The connection to the computer is very easy and songs are transferred within seconds via a USB 2.0 port but it is also compatible with the 1.1 USB port.The 20GB hard drive makes it ideal for storing all your music albums on and/or backing up the data from your PC, The only real downside to this product is it is quite bulky and heavy and so carrying it around in a pocket can be a problem. However other than this it is a very good product and is very useful for backing up all your files and music.

Good... when it works...,

Initially I thought this product was great, but even though I hardly used it in the first 3 months (just in the car), one day it just kept repeating the same 6 tracks over and over, kept switching itself off, and then the battery would not take a charge. I've been sent a new one as a replacement by Archos, which is great, but I've lost faith in it really, and keep waiting for it to break. Additionally, the menus are quite difficult to negotiate, something I don't usually have a problem with. It's okay, but beware you may be without it for a while if it needs replacing. On the plus side, it does hold masses of tunes, and Archos' customer service is excellent.

Not too shabby,

I have had my Archos Gmini now for about a week and im very pleased with it so far. The 20GB hard drive in it is plenty big enough for me and it will hold about 275 albums (depending of course how long they are). The buttons are easy enough to get used to and are made even easier with a quick read of the instructions manual. Battery life seems ok although ive not really had it long enough to tell. Ive used some other earphones with mine and they work perfectly ive also got some small portable speakers which are great, the whole thing can be taken to parties and it saves carrying your entire CD collection.It's very light for the size and bearing in mind this is basically a small computer i think this is very good. It definetly is portable. Another great thing is the fact that you can go onto the archos website (www.archos.com) where you can download updated operating systems for the player, these improve negotiation and get rid of any small bugs. I dont think apple do this (ipod). At only £150 its a great buy, seriously consider whether you need to spend a lot more money on something if you can buy this instead, this is a great contender for the ipod which has become very fashionable recently.
