Arnova introduces it's next generation of Android tablets., powered by a super fast 1Ghz processor. This second generation comes with a high response multitouch capacitive touch screen and optimised 2.3 Gingerbread OS
Using Android 2.3 Gingerbread, the 7"Arnova 7 G2 from Arnova displays images and videos in resolution up to 720p.With WiFi 802.11 b/g support, it's easy to stay connected The Arnova 7 G2 is also 3Gcompatible and has a webcam and sim card slot for communication your way If 8GB of flash memory isn't enough, you can even insert a microSDHC card Download applications for your Arnova 7 G2 to make it your own
Please not this model, arnova 7 g2, does not have 3G. Also, usually Android phones/ tablets, get all there apps from the Android market place. This tablet does not support the android market place. You get apps from appslib. So what does this mean, well, not much really. Appslib has been created by arnova so it has a great backing. Instead of of having acess to millions of apps, u get acess to 'only' tens of thousands. Yes, more than enough. So you still get all the great ones, like angy bids for example.
Now about the tablet! BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!! Brought this for my wife, and she loves it. If u have used an android phone, then this is exactly the same as those user interfaces, without the phone or gps. This tablet has the andoid 2.3 operating system, which is perfect. Internet works a treat, the apps are clear and crystal. The screen has multi touch zoom feature. The video playback from films and you tube, really is HD quality. So clear.
You can use it as your second tv with bbc iplayer, itv player, and tvcatchup which means you can watch any digital tv channel. It has a really unique little stand unlike a lot of other tablets that u have to rest against things, so in theory it can also be used as a digital photo frame with its built in slideshow feature.
Great movie player, great music player, great website browser, great photo frame, basically a great liittle hand held computer. Unlike larger tablets, which are on the large side, u could actually fit this in a large pocket, or small bag, go to a nice coffee shop, connect to wifi and browse the internet or read the newspapers websites with its auto rotating portrait feature. Your options are endless and battery life is great. Memory can easily be upgraded from its already quite large 8gb Via micro sd card.
Summary. What an absolute bargain. Brilliant and useful piece of technolgy. Makes my £750 laptop feel dated. Feels well built and solid, looks great, fast and responsive and is just so useful. I have typed this review with this tablet. Again, perfect!
So BAD POINTS. If compare the resolution of the screen to an ipad, then it might seem its a bad point. This tablet uses the 'old' but cheaper technology of a lcd tft screen, but honestly, it it absolutely fine and clear. Just means the smallest of text on websites is just not as sharp as these newer sceens, but with double tapping the screen or pinch to zoom, problem solved. But hd movie playback is sooo clear, its actally 1080p HD. Sound can be quite tinny but still quite good, but i use quality headphones or external speakes. Problem solved. I had a top quality samsung laptop, have owned and used ipads, i phones and htc desires. This piece of technology is up there with all of them. And for the price, you would be silly to miss the chance to own one. Very happy and converted Arnova owners.Read more ›
Bought this just after christmas at it's cheapy price. I do not regret it at all. The capacitative touchscreen responds perfectly, and the tablet ran quickly straight out of the box. Display is wonderful. As has been mentioned, the device does not support Android Market; however this isn't a problem as all the Market apps I wanted which weren't available on appslib (the default application library) are easily found with a swift google search. I haven't found any exceptions to this yet. Very glad I bought this, can't go wrong with the price (no really).
I looked at all the reviews for tablets around the £100 mark and eventually plumped for the the archos arnova 7. I was quite apprehensive having read some of the reviews but I can honestly say that I have been blown away by how great this tablet is, it has a good memory, fast processor and the touch screen is fantastic. I have even dropped it down the stairs by mistake and it still works absolutely fine. Android market doesn't come with it but there is an easy download to get it if you Google: 'archos arnova android market'. This tablet has a miles better spec than the natpc one that seems to sell by the bucket load on Amazon. only thing is the price seems to have gone up recently I got mine for less than £100
Really only wanted an e-reader but since prices were much the same, went for this instead. This was at the lower end of the price scale of tablets. Never had an android device before so wasn't sure what to expect. Was assured that it would access Kindle which was what I wanted.
There's a workaround available for accessing Android Market which involved downloading and installing some files - very easily done and you get the full range of Android apps.
Tablet itself is small and light enough to carry around in my bag. The picture quality on the screen is great. Plays my divx movies no problem and the sound is grand. The battery life isn't too bad. It has several"home" screens so you can organise the widgets into groups.
There's is only one camera on this and it's on the front. Great for Skype or video chat but not for taking snaps. Has an onboard 8GB memory which is plenty but easily expandable with a micro SD card. Very easy to transfer files from pc to device via USB. It's possible to connect USB devices like a portable drive or keyboard to the tablet with a micro OTG cable. I have also connected my 3 mobile internet dongle and got internet.
All in all, it's a functional little tablet with plenty to offer.
This is a BUDGET tablet so when you get it don't expect it to be like an Ipad.
The screen is bright (even on low) and colourful and has a great battery life.
I've played about with it online and off and i'm at 8 hours showing only 50% of the battery has been used.
Obviously the more WIFI used the shorter the battery time. It's still very impressive to what I expected.
The touch screen is responsive and the processor seems pretty quick running Angry Birds with no noticable slow-down.
Here is the bad news...
This tablet will not connect to the Android Market where all the main apps are.. This is because it's running Ginger Bread 2.3 which is a mobile phone operating system and the tablet is not a phone. Unless you know how to hack the firmware or you are a technical geek you have only access to a 3rd party app store which has many of the best apps missing.
This is the only reason i've knocked off a star in the rating.
