1.0 out of 5 stars [NO CALLER ID] Customer Service Nightmare 18 Feb 2012
Like previous reviewers I too had issues with this phone. Most I could overlook, but the caller ID was one I could not.

A top of the range, expensive, android home phone that can not display caller ID is an insult. My 12 year old Panasonic house phone had that for crying out loud.

Since it is stated on the box and website that the device _has_ caller ID functionality I assumed my device was faulty in some way or that I was missing something (no proper manual didn't help), so I did what anyone else would do and contacted customer service, this resulted in zero response until I sent two more messages (each the same) before getting a reply.
After running through the steps given by their support team I replied to tell them nothing fixed this issue. Three more repeat e-mails (again, from myself) and several days later a response giving me another potential solution which turned out not to work.
Only one message this time before getting a reply in which they issued me an RMA code and details on how to return the phone to Archos' UK centre. If it wasn't bad enough the amount of time I had to waste waiting for replies, I now had to pay to return the device.

After sending the phone, via first class recorded, it was another five days before I heard anything back from them. A simple e-mail stating the device had been received and I could now track it progress through the repair procedure. SUCCESS!! .. or not.

They got my device on the 6th (Feb), it is now the 18th and the status page still shows that the "Your product has been received".

1.0 out of 5 stars Dreadful customer service - poor product 13 Feb 2012
Although I am disappointed with this phone I am more disappointed by Archos customer support.
The phone does have some issues and is far from perfect but was willing to work through these with a bit of reassurance from Archos. That certainly hasn't happened!
The screen is very poor - those of you who have used a resistive screen before should know that if you press too heavily when calibrating the screen you will have to use a similar pressure every time you use the screen thereafter so make sure you tap lightly when first calibrating.
The spacing of the buttons seems very poorly implemented as it is almost impossible to get a correct response first time from home, menu, search keys etc.
My biggest issue however is that I get no Caller ID displayed.
I have contacted Archos and their responses have been quite frankly pathetic.
Is is unlikely I will buy another Archos device again based on this experience.

1.0 out of 5 stars terrible terrible terrible 12 Jan 2012

what a terrible item. £145 smart home phone? only suitable for taking and receiving calls. anything else forget it.
no full user manual on phone or online or in paper form. no call answering. no caller id. no tts option. archos assumes that customers will get all these facilities on android. this phone is not registered on android market! archos takes no responsibility for effects of downloading android apps onto this phone! resistive capacitive touch screen is very annoying as it is hit or miss what you want to do. archos customer services did not email me back on queries i had. they did not call me back when i called them and they said they would call me back in two days. when phone breaks down, will there be customer service? battery cannot be changed. continually ringer volume changed when pressing other areas of screen ( sometimes ringer vol goes to zero because of this). unable to transfer files from phone memory to phone internal memory. unable to gain access on some facilities on settings (such as trying to be an administrator on own phone). sound suffers from echoeing and zinging. terrible and frustrating phone.
