About the Author
Will Pryce is an award-winning photographer who trained as an architect at Cambridge University and the Royal College of Art. This is a really beautiful book as well as a lucid account of a much overlooked building tradition. I was particularly fascinated by the wooden architecture of China, Japan and Burma - wooden buildings so unlike our own.

This book is fantastic. Pryce’s photographs are excellent again, but this time he is both photographer and writer, which makes for a beautifully unique harmony between the images and the text. This is a delightful lesson in architecture, history, construction, religion, geography and photography. An eminent and stylish piece of work.
