From Colonization to PlantationThe Archaeology of Ulster attempts both to interpret and illustrate for the general reader the development of Ulster society from its initial colonisation by hunting-fishing bands to the last great influx of immigrants during the plantation. The authors reveal how the material evidence of the past is translated into archaeological interpretation and review many of the problems that currently occupy the attention of archaeologists in Ulster. They also examine to what extent Ulster differs from the rest of Ireland and how much of its past is a product of both peoples and influences shared by the other Irish provinces, Britain and continental Europe.
