By-the-book RPG, but worth some credit,

As well as making top-notch games consoles, it seems Sony also has a knack for slipping some half decent RPG's off its production line.Twilight of the Spirits allows you to take control of two brothers with a diference. Being an RPG, they are born to a demon father and a human mother. Born into a revolting world, they are subsequently separated moments after birth. Seemingly shunted by the world, unaccepted by humans and demons alike, they grow up in two separate worlds. Kharg raised in a human village and Darc in a demon city. They grow up feeding off the propaganda against each others race, unaware of the their own shared blood. Like most RPG's, there is the overpowering evil that the two must defeat. A good 60 hours will be spent, trying to save the world, that they were born ungratefully born into. The combat system in Arc gives you more freedom than other well know RPG's, such as Sony's Final Fantasy's. Before you are thrown into the fight, you have the chance to equip your team with magic/defences/weapons that will aid you against that particular enemy, making these combats much more tactically inclined (also standing this game out from any of Sony's predecessors). Once in the fight you have the freedom to move anywhere within a character's given stance. From there, you are able to unleash a multitude of FMV sequences to accompany your moves. Even though we've seen games like this, Arc surpasses all that have gone before. Offering a game that will swallow your senses, and leave you gagging for more. Not to be missed....

Well first off im surprised to see theres a strategy guide ^^ (albeit for the american version of the game... but really i dont think there will be any differences....) Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits Official Strategy Guideand now onto the review, i have yet to complete the damn game but of course with many RPGs the true potential of the game and the characters isnt revieled till you get creamed by the end boss. There is a twist to this game as neither side is inherrantly evil. Humans... using up the energy the planet and beings need, no surprise there. They are in a constant battle with the Deimos. Deimos... the side evolved from monsters where they think humans need to be erased. You play as Kharg and Darc, the two pictured characters in the cover [Kharg being the first protagonist and the human is the centrepiece] There are great twists and ironies within the story and either way you end up liking one side more than the other (which is great cause near the end of the game you can choose ^~) The gameplay takes some getting used to but in the long run is worth sticking to. It does occasionally get tedious as each move is turn based and more individual than the popular Final Fantasy series. Then again other RPGs often do and when bored it is easy to get back to the story at hand. There isnt much need to spend as much time as possible to level up untill you reach certain points (not specific i know but it means at the beginning dont waste all of your time and patience on getting Lv20 before doing any major story work) and the game has its ways of letting you know when you suck... i mean ... need to train. Not much else can be said aside from the game being damn addicting, i only stopped playing because i had to give it back to my friend... ive ordered one of amazon and it has arrived.. now i just need the time to play it... really i mean where do the hours go...

I've been a fan of Final Fantasy games for some years now but I admit that Arc: Twilight Of The Spirits has captured my heart!! This may be partly due to the fact that the combat isn't quite as hard and is something I actually enjoy, which is a first for me. I fell in love with the story line and I cared deeply what happened to all the characters, particularly the troubled Darc. If you couldn't care less about game characters and are looking mainly for fighting and complicated strategic battles, go someplace else. In this game you HAVE to care, to fully appreciate. If you think this sounds remotely like a game you would enjoy, buy it now!! You will NOT regret it.
