Product Description
Classic Bollywood romance. When dashing pilot Arun (Rajesh Khanna) romances Vandana Tripathi (Sharmila Tagore), Vandana becomes pregnant and the couple have a quiet temple wedding ceremony before Arun leaves to re-join his duties. Unfortunately, Arun is killed, and Vandana is unable to convince anyone of her marriage to him, and in these circumstances must re-locate to hide her shame. She gives birth to a baby boy, whom she has to place in an orphanage, and then adopt back. Unfortunately for her, the boy is adopted by someone else. She manages to find out the adopted family's whereabouts, and gets a job in their home as a servant. When she is about to be molested by one of their relatives, Shyam (Manmohan), her now grown-up son Suraj (also played by Rajesh Khanna) witnesses this, and kills him. Vandana takes the blame for this killing and is sentenced to imprisonment, leaving her son and her life behind for a crime she did not commit.

This is a Bollywood remake of the American film "To Each His Own". The music is wonderful, especially the song "mere sapno ki rani". The tragic romance is touching, though it does drag a little in places. Beautiful scenery, and a beautiful film.

I was amazed to find the DVD in such excellent quality, meaning,there are no interruptions on the tape as you would find on tapes at times. I received this DVD on the day they said I would receive it and it was packed well. I love Bollywood movies. The Bollywood movie directors have a clever way of getting the story across to a vast audience across the globe without the viewers having to understand a word of what the actors are talking about. The acting is also excellent and therefore, the story is often easy to follow, but the songs they add, simply take you away to another world. Only Bollywood movies can do this and this film,Aradhana- with Rajesh Khanna and Sharmila Tagore -still can reduce me to tears, after all these years. The quality of the dvd is excellent and I am glad I purchased it. Thank you.
