Under The Tree story - Snorkmaiden falls in love with the Poet. The two lovers went on a moonlight walk and fell into a gorge. Moomin gets worried and starts looking for Snorkmaiden and at the end saves the two from the gorge. At the same time Moominpappa is in the forest collecting berries, roots and lots of wood in order to survive the winter. After this adventure the Poet comes for a visit to the Moomin house and tells about a letter that he has received from his Aunt Jane. Moominpappa ends up finding out that Jane is also his Aunt. So they are all relatives.
The Aunt came for a visit. The Moomins didn't want her to come and fake measles. The Aunt thinks that her help is needed and orders everyone to bed and starts to medicate the 'sick' relatives. She didn't like that the Poet has a crush on Snorkmaiden. She had other plans for him. So she expresses her feelings.
While experiencing life with the Moomins the Aunt decides that Snorkmaiden & Moominpappa need to be educated. She starts having home school for them. The Moomins get into a panic. They want the Aunt to leave. They tell her that they don't celebrate Christmas. As known from last winter the Moomins ended up celebrating Christmas secretly in the basement of the Moomin house.
While celebrating the Moomins started to have a bad conscience. They decided to look for the Aunt. She was found in the forest where she had decorated one beautiful forest tree. The Christmas party starts all over again with dancing around the tree and drinking Glögg.
