Product Description

Synopsis

Beautiful, bizarre, and among nature's most colourful creations, living corals are now being successfully kept and grown in a rapidly growing number of home reef aquariums. Designed to help new and experienced aquarists to select the most appropriate corals for their systems and to provide guidance in keeping them healthy for the long term, this all-new book is packed with the advice of a seasoned coral keeper. More than 700 world-class photographs and text reviewed by leading coral biologists and reef aquarists guide the reader through the selection and husbandry of hundreds of species. Included are: soft corals, corallimorpharians (mushroom corals), gorgonians, zoanthids, large-polyp stony corals and small-polyp stony corals - all illustrated with hundreds of brilliant new photographs to aid identification.

Coming home from Woolworth's with my first 10-gallon fish tank, complete with undergravel filter and freshwater angelfish, I had no vision of the day when aquariums and aquarium literature would take over a large part of my life, occupying every available surface and shelf in my home and becoming a passionate fixation for most of my waking hours. Read the first page

This book is the most up to date manual of coral husbandry I have yet come across. It provides in one volume a valuable guide to a wide range of commonly available corals, saving hours of browsing time on the web (where the best sources on reef keeping are often to be found ).
If you are seriously into reefkeeping I recommend you buy this book , there is so much useful information here that it is hard to review it adequately, perhaps the best thing to say is if I could only have one book on the subject this is it!

I'm new at keeping corals in my nano tank and this book is proven to be very helpful and informative. I have been able to identify the corals that I have purchased and how I should look after it. Highly recommended if you are a budding coral reef enthusiast.

A magnificent description of coral biology, anathomy, history; an extensive and compact guide to coral identification and captive care; an interesting discussion about coral desease.
Simply the best book about aquarium coral I've ever read! Dedicated to aquarist, not to biologist.
Thery few space dedicate to aquarium technique and coral propagation, so other references are required.
