i love this aqualog book and i was at a complete loss without it, this is a book for L-number pleco identification only so their's very little information on the subject of suckermouth catfish in this book. but that should not put you of buying it because, it is in fact a very useful book at that.
some pleco's can sell for meny hundreds of pounds so knowledge is key when buying pleco's from good aquarium stores, as without this book you could be making a costly mistake as so meny pleco's look the same. when i first started fish keeping about 15 years ago i purchased a few L046 pleco's
which cost £25.00 each(yeah those where the cheap days because your lucky if can buy them for £180.00 each now). anyway when i got home, i realised that i did not have L046 pleco's, but instead had ended up with a few L098 pleco's, a common mistake that cost me £30.00 more then i should of paid, so if the same mistake was made these days well it would cost a fortune, so like i said this is where this book comes in, just take it to the aquarium store with you, ask a member of staff for your chosen pleco L-number look it up in this book and you'll know if its the correct fish.
this book is expensive but i think its well worth it, it has every L-number pleco's from 1 to 350 and all Lda-numbers from 1 to 76 on 272 pages and the book is even upgradeable
(in the form of picture stickers.)so any newly discovered pleco's can be stuck onto the spare 7 blank pages.

All of the Aqualog books are excellent value, although they are not particularly cheap. They are full to the brim with first class colour photographs and to reproduce these in a book is an expensive process. Whether they are about the beautiful L Number now coming into the aquarist trade or some other species of fish they are the most comprehensive identification books you can buy. They never become dated because as new fish become available to the aquarist trade the books are updated. There is not a lot of literature on L Number fishes so this book is invaluable.
They do not deal with the basics of fish keeping, there are many and varied books that do that. They are in the main a fish identification encyclopaedia and not a lot more. But for those aquarists who are particularly interested in a single species they are indispensable.
