i love this aqualog book and i was at a complete loss without it. this is a book for L-number pleco identification only so there's very little information on the subject of suckermouth catfish in this book. but, that should not put you off buying it because - it is in fact a very useful book at that.

some pleco's can sell for many hundreds of pounds - so knowledge is key when buying pleco's from good aquarium stores, as without this book, you could be making a costly mistake as so many pleco's look the same. when i first started fish keeping about 15 years ago, i purchased a few L046 pleco's which cost £25.00 each(yeah those where the cheap days because your lucky if can buy them for £180.00 each now). anyway, when i got home, i realised, that i did not have L046 pleco's - but instead had ended-up with a few L098 pleco's, a common mistake that cost me £30.00 more then i should of paid. so, if the same mistake was made these days, well, it would cost a fortune. so, like i said, this is where this book comes in, just take it to the aquarium store with you - ask a member of staff for your chosen pleco L-number look it up in this book and you'll know if its the correct fish.

this book is expensive, but, i think its well worth it. it has every L-number pleco's from 1 to 350 and all Lda-numbers from 1 to 76 on 272 pages and the book is even upgradeable (in the form of picture stickers.) so, any newly discovered pleco's can be stuck onto the spare 7 blank pages.

Quality book for those with an above average interest in the subject matter. There is not an abundance of information on the fish nor on how they should best be kept. Where the book shines is as an identification and classification resource. From page 33 through to page 258 there are 8 small photos of L numbers per page and on page 259 there are 4 photos. These photos cover full body, side and top view images. There are also some images of the head and mouth. The first 30 or so pages give very brief info on different species, half of that space is written in English the other half in German.
The book description on the back page states it covers all L-numbers from 1 to 350 and all LDA- numbers from 1- 76 with 1800 photos. It also states it is accepted as a world wide resource work for dealers, breeders and aquarists.
Indeed I first saw this book in an aquatic store where it was being used as an identification resource by staff who kindly showed me. The impression it made on me encouraged me to order it online when I returned home. This is a very good volume of work that could be of benefit to anyone that has a keen interest and wants to keep some of the species.

Aqualog Loricariidae: All L-numbers: Alle L-Welse. All L-Numbers
A great book on the oldest L-numbers. Some fishes have gotten their own name now-
Like L-134 who now are known as Peckoltia compta. Otherwise a good book on a wide range off information like aquarium size, water quality, pH, Temperature, max size on specimens, were the catfish is caught aso.

I bought this as a fathers day gift for my dad. Product is good quality, however, I did have to wait a while to have it delivered. I contacted the seller who did get back to me on why the order was taking so long to be dispatched. They had trouble sourcing a copy but did eventually get it. This is the only reason I did not give 5 stars.

Great book lots of pictures, no info about caring for the fish, but thats not what the book is about, its purely photos for identifying the species.
