Product Description

Aqua Optima Evolve 30 day Water Filter Fits Brita Maxtra 3 pack - 3 months supply

Manufacturer's Description

The Evolve filter by Aqua Optima is designed to fit water filter jugs, filter kettles and water chillers from Aqua Optima and Brita* Maxtra*, as well as other leading brands using this type of filter.

The filter incorporates Aqua Optima's unique 5-step filtration technology which removes high levels of impurities from tap water.

Clean, clear water for all the family

The Aqua Optima water filter cartridges have a unique patented 5-step filtration system to remove impurities and potentially harmful substances from tap water and maintain a consistent fast flow rate throughout the life of the product.

Better tasting hot and cold drinks

Aqua Optima's unique formulation reduces levels of herbicides, pesticides and chlorine by up to 80%. The activated carbon also helps prevent the unattractive oily film that can occur on the surface of hot drinks.

Improves the look and taste of cooked vegetables

Aqua Optima's layer of ultra fine mesh gives extra clarity to filtered water, improving the look and taste of cooked vegetables.

Reduces limescale, extending appliance life

Calcium carbonate, common in hard water areas, causes the build-up of limescale in kitchen appliances. Using Aqua Optima filtered water will help extend the life of your kettle.

More economical than bottled water

Bottled water is far more expensive and is actually less regulated than our domestic tap water. Aqua Optima filtered water works out at under 4p per litre = a tenth of the cost of bottled water. Drinking filtered tap water also has far less impact on the environment, as most water bottles are non-biodegradable.

All Aqua Optima products are BPA free.

We've had a Brita Maxtra water filter for quite some time because, living in an old building in London, we have some concerns about the quality of the water. After initial enthusiasm for the filter, it has recently fallen out of use mainly because the filters are so expensive (unless you get lucky with a special offer). These Aqua Optima filters are a bit cheaper and I can highly recommend them. They fit the Maxtra perfectly and do the same things as the Brita filters - reducing chlorine and limescale as well as lead and herbicides etc. We will definitely be using our filter again, now that we've got a cheaper way to replace the cartridges.

I have used these both in my Brita filter kettle and my Aqua Optima filter jug. They seem to work fine in both and I would buy them again for the convenience of being able to use to both appliances. However, I would go for the 60-day filters to reduce the number of filter changes required. Three things to note with these filters:

(1) I had an issue with them at first because they were not filtering water and appeared to be blocked. These filters require far greater preparation time spent submerged in water than the Brita filters - I think this is because they are packaged dry, unlike the wet Brita filters. Submerge them in water, shake and spin them around to get all the air bubbles out. Once it sinks it should be ok. I almost gave up on these at first use because of this issue.
(2) The filters take up more headspace than Brita Maxtra filters - this has an impact on my Brita kettle because it takes less water now and so has to be filled up more often to give the same amount of filtered water.
(3) These cannot be recycled, unlike Brita filters.

In an effort to save a few pennies in these hard times I opted to try these "compatible" filters for the first time in my Maxtra jug. My observations are that the design does not ideally match the genuine maxtra as there are 3 holes in bottom where filtered water comes out but two of them fill the inside lip of the top compartment, meaning there will always be water sitting there. Also the top side filter entry hole is raised above the "seal" line so it looks like there would always be some water sitting in the top as well...that is if there was a perfect seal. In the first one I've fitted it appears to be draining down the sides, meaning unfiltered water is getting through... these filters might be great for Aqua Optima jugs, but I wouldnt recommend them for anyone with a Brita Maxtra jug :(

Update: As my Brita jug was due getting replaced I decided to buy an Aqua Optima jug and have to say that in this jug I'm more impressed with these filters, so I've increased my score to 3 stars overall. Definately recommend for Aqua jugs, if not Brita ones. :)

Great value, I just hope they fit my Brita Maxtra (as they say it does) when It needs changing next month.
They look the same and less than £2 each!

Update. these do fit and they do work just as good as Brita ones.
Save your money and buy these!
By the way the water boards should really be paying for these!

Aqua Optima Evolve 60 Day Water Filter, Fits Brita Maxtra 6 pack - 1 years supply

Not designed for Brita filter jugs. The water trickles down the side unfiltered, what a waste of money. For those that think they are drinking filtered water they in fact are drinking 80% tap and 20% filtered.

Never again. Buy these if you have an Aqua Optima jug NOT Brita.

Tried these as an alternative to the very expensive Brita version. They fit my Brita Marella jug and they seem to last a little longer as well (no scum on my tea even after 4 weeks of heavy use!). Now onto my second one and still great tasting water. Very impressed so far and at that price, it's a no-brainer.

I ordered a six pack on a deal from a similar website that uses the tagline of every little helps. I had tried them before from Wilkinsons and i just assumed it was a bad filter, but i was wrong! They leave metal filaments EVERYWHERE! I have done exactly what they suggest, by way of shaking it, then filtering twice, and yet you still see the metal bits at the bottom! wasn't majorly scared by that, as i just poured a bit slower than usual, but the next thing proves a false economy! I use a Maxtra from Brita and get along just great with it and i use the flashing timer indicator on the top, but it would seem that after using a Aqua Optima for two weeks it filters so slow its like a drop at a time. I recently timed one and it was 47 minutes until it has filtered all the water in the jug, and it was only 1 litre! I have learned my lesson te hard way, I have 3 filters left, and they are going to be for dire emergencies if i dont have a Brita at hand.

A cheaper alternative to the relatively expensive Brita filter. Only downside is they fit perhaps too snugly to my Brita Elemaris, meaning the water takes longer to filter through. This isn't necessarily a problem, and I would rather have the water running through slower meaning it is more likely to be being filtered, than quicker, meaning the filter may be letting unfiltered water through.
