Product Description

Product Description

This is the tale of a small hedgehog named Milton, who is struggling to survive and find happiness. His adventures take him to April's Pond where he meets a friendly ladybird, squirrel, and house martin. However, his fate is far from certain, hidden danger lurks in the shadows, watching his every move, and not everything at the pond is quite as it seems. The book was created to inspire young children everywhere to conquer their fears and realize their potential. It subtly tackles difficult issues like animal cruelty, trust, friendship, obsession, jealousy, forgiveness, and love. Through the eyes of a small hedgehog it offers the reader ways to deal with complex emotions like fear and incorporates factual information about the wildlife that lives at April's Pond.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent story, 28 Oct 2010
This review is from: April's Pond (Paperback)
i bought this for my niece and nephew then had to buy my own copy for teaching after i read it to them. The story is wonderful on many levels. There is great attention to detail about the wildlife and how they live. underlining it is a super moral story line that says so much about friendship and loyalty. i look forward to hearing how Milton gets on in another book, please!

This review is from: April's Pond (Paperback)
Aprils pond is a truly delightful book-- a simple story of a young hedgehog- where the author takes care to be factually correct giving lots of insights into wildlife and the peculiarities of hedgehogs in particular-- I found it perfect for reading aloud and it opens up lots of discussions with the audience ,The illustrations are charming and the toy which accompanies the book is superb -- we all fell in love with the puppet MILTON .If you are wanting a simple way of promoting an interest in wildlife in children and are especially interested in the plight of hedgehogs then this book is a must-- but be prepared for a few questions at the end !!
