I had never heard of YolanDa Brown until I saw her interviewed on TV in March. This prompted me to wait for and buy her new CD and I was very impressed. She has a deceptively effortless style, relaxed sound with rich tones coupled with a superb command of the saxophone (she also sings on two tracks which is a nice contrast and very pleasant). Her band are also excellent musicians, creating rhythmic, subtle, varied and interesting backings for her (they also play some very tight close harmony and unison lines effectively). There are a wide range of styles and tempos in the compositions on this CD, all of which are co-written by the artist. This is a very good quality recording and production, well worth buying.

I didn't know anything about her until I seen her on BBC Breakfast. Was pretty impressed and decided to buy her CD. She is an incredible talent, and good to see a new younger generation on the jazz scene.

10 tracks all written by her, 8 of the tracks are saxophone performances, and 2 vocals - Without You and Bittersweet. It's a bright and pleasant album from this East London Star, and I would love to see this saxophonist in action in a live show.

Went to see Yolanda Brown last night with some friends as fancied hearing some live music ( New Years resolution) - not heard of her before and not a regular jazz listener but was absolutely blown away by Yolanda and her band. Great to see such talent having so much fun on stage - played a lot of music from this CD so couldnt resist buying it and would highly recomend to others
A fantastic sound - sometimes mellow, sometimes funky - a real virtuoso of the saxaphone but with bags of personality - love the Jamaican influence.
If you dont buy any other CD on spec buy this one - well worth it

As the title would suggest, flowers can only arrive to charm us with their exotic fragrances after they have been nurtured with showers from the season before. That's what you will experience when you hear YolanDa. No one nurtures the sax as she does. No one delivers such tempting fragrance either. Fabulous experience. Thanks for all the effort in creating this music and talking to us the way that you do, live via your sax link! No rain. No champagne. Cheers YolanDa and crew. Have only a week to wait for a live show!

I must admit I have never heard of Yolanda before I bought this album, I saw a story on her on bbc and liked what I saw. Her sax skills are pretty good and altho she wont win a grammy with this album i thought she did pretty well. Only gripe I have is that the album is too short!
