I've reviewed another ruffwear harness, this pannier version is just as well made & thought out, they excel at what they do at ruffwear.. shame they're so hard to find in the UK.
Side pockets are quite wide mouthed, the zips are pretty tough, our dog who had never worn this was not fussed, no rustling noise from the material, just solid construction & rugged outdoor materials used, some folk will think an animal wearing this is a working dog so will tend to bother you less, (as it's clearly not just simple pet kit, this is the real deal). simple to clip in & out of, easily washed, well padded. Practica & utilitarian, these are the landrover of harnesses in our eyes, & will outlast a few of our animals that's for sure, so whilst pricey they are worth paying out for! Highly recommended, substantial & quality in evidence when you try ruffwear out!

No Frills, Looks Nice,

I got one of these packs for each of my dogs. I chose this pack over others because the harness supporting the pack looks like it would really adjust well and hold the pack in place (most dog packs I've seen will gradually slide over to one side of the dog, causing the bags to drag on the ground and making it uncomfortable for the dog). I also like that the pack size is in proportion to the harness; some packs seem like they would be too big and heavy, when filled, for the dog carrying them. The packs are also centered over the dog's shoulders rather than back, which makes me feel a little better for my shepherds with their long backs.
The pack performs pretty well. The material is durable and water-resistant. It looks nice on the dog. It does still have a tendency to slide over to one side if the straps are not cinched down tight enough. I like that it has a handle you can use to pick your dog up- I have used it to help my dog come down from steep rocky areas without hurting herself. It also has two attachment rings- one for the leash and another to attach a tow line so your dog can drag/pull equipment if needed. Some things that are missing on this pack- no inside pockets! It would be nice to have compartments inside for water bottles, poop bags, etc. It is also not possible to remove the packs from the harness; they are permanently attached. If those things are important to you, get the "Palisades" pack. It has both of those features and is only a little more expensive. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful:

I called the company to help me with getting the correct size for my dog. She is a fairly thin German Shepherd so we ordered a medium and it fits great. Two water bottles fit great in each side. We have used it over a dozen times and have had no issues with anything! I have had to readjust it only slightly since we used it the first time. It seems really comfortable with great padding on the straps. It sits right over her shoulders and hasn't shifted when we've been on a walk. We use it for daily walks around the neighborhood not for hiking. Highly recommend.

This backpack has a Y yolk which is much more comfortable and less wearing on my dog's neck. I have a high energy Basenji and he's a male dominant agressive dog. After reading and watching Cesar Millan (dog whisperer), I decided I would try the backpack to give my dog his job during the walk. He is a changed dog since two month's ago. My husband and I are consistent with corrections and the backpack is a way to release his high energy.No signs of uneven neck wearing and great fit for my 22 lb dog even after walking him about 1-2 hrs daily! Our Echo looks happy, more attentive, submissive and confident after his work!(walks)Will save up for another pack.Well worth every penny spent!
