More About the Author

For as long as I can remember, I've made up stories. Initially to get out of trouble at home but later because of my love for books and reading. My early efforts featured my favourite book and TV characters. I had a taste for the dramatic even then which has carried over into my adult work. It was an easy decision to write for the Young Adult market, as Young Adult and children's fantasy makes up a large majority of my book collection. People often ask me why I write fantasy, and I always give the same answer. There are no rules. Anything is allowed, as long as it's believable. If the characters behave in a way people can relate to, it doesn't matter what their situation is. I tried romance and historical fiction but these efforts soon found their way into the Recycle Bin on my laptop.

I decided to aim at the ebook market. My first novel 'Sacrifice' was released in January 2012. This was followed in July 2012 with two connected books: 'The Hand Of Destiny Book 1 The Appointed', and 'the Hand of Destiny Book 2 The Betrayer'. The biggest wonder of my life is how I'm able to write a 200 plus page book but find it impossible to come up with two sentences for a birthday card.

Away from reading and writing books, I love playing piano for business and pleasure. Before concentrating on my book writing, I used to write songs as well. Maybe I should combine both passions and write a musical.

Product Description

An evil ruling tyrant, in a world few people know exist, needs only one thing to make his ruthless power complete - a deadly weapon capable of controlling or killing its victims and threatening an entire civilization. Legends tell of a saviour who will return one day to challenge the tyrant and save the impoverished and enslaved people. Another world away, Fiona Armstrong, set to become a champion swimmer, has no idea of the extraordinary events awaiting her when she meets the mysterious new lifeguard 'Christophe', a warrior in search of the saviour and one who is determined to succeed in his mission at all costs. Before long, her destiny becomes frighteningly apparent and her life is altered beyond all recognition. Is Fiona really the saviour that Christophe believes her to be? Is this a case of mistaken identity or is she indeed The Appointed? Gripping and fast moving - a cleverly plotted swashbuckling tale, full of magic and unexpected twists right to the end.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Truly Gripping Read! 13 May 2008
An alternative world, a quest fraught with danger, and a race against time to prevent a ruthless tyrant getting his hands on a deadly weapon, what more could any reader ask for? This brilliant first novel in the "Hand Of Destiny" series certainly does not disappoint. The many twists and turns throughout the plot, and the author's easy-to-read style are guaranteed to keep you turning the pages till the very end.

Yet, "The Appointed" is far more than a fast pace action novel. It is the story of four remarkable teenagers: headstrong Fiona who refuses to go down without a fight; Fiona's best friend James, whose loyalty to her never wavers; Katie, surprisingly unmarred by her unhappy childhood, and Christophe who it seems will stop at nothing to fulfil his duty.

Follow the characters as they meet and embark on a perilous journey, struggling to put aside their differences and work together to overcome the many obstacles in their path. Share in their triumphs and tribulations, their heartache and betrayal. Love them or loathe them, these characters will take you on an emotional roller coaster you will never forget.

For me, this novel really does have it all: strong, believable characters, a compelling story line, and an equal measure of laughter and tears. Bring on the sequel!

5.0 out of 5 stars A rollicking yarn 6 Oct 2008
An excellent first novel, full of excitement and action. With four heroes fighting some dastardly villains, the book is full of good ideas and is extremely well written. Although the book is complete in itself, the promise of two more books to follow in the series is mouth-watering. With luck there will be more to come from this author even after the current trology is complete. The characters are very well drawn, and the relationships between them are intiguing. I was particularly fond of the character Katie, and there is a hint of more to come from her that promises greatly.

Although the target audience seems to be a teenage one, the book seems to hit the right buttons to make it interesting for those adults who enjoy the Harry Potter and His Dark Materials books, and, I would guess would also be exciting enough for intelligent sub-teens as well. A good book for Christmas stockings!

5.0 out of 5 stars Debut novel sensation! 31 May 2008
This was a gripping, moving, emotional ride through two different worlds and an amazing first book from Nadia. Hands up, I'm not a great reader but, without sounding like a cliche, I genuinely couldn't put this book down - even sitting up well past midnight to read a few extra pages! Can't wait for the next instalment!

The Appointed (Hand of Destiny)

Still looking for something to keep the teenagers quiet. Buy them this book. I can only endorse the comments of the two previous reviewers. A book for all ages, I am 65 and was enchanted by the tale, even though I was surprised by the ending. My two great nieces, aged 10 and 13, have now read it and after debating the death of one of the main characters we cannot come to any agreement. However, we all agree that we cannot wait for the sequel. There is going to be a sequel isn't there?
