Product Description

Made by a leading BBC documentary maker with Bowen practitioner John Wilks, the idea of these 2 DVD s is to show practitioners how to target the work and become much more effective. It s primarily designed as a tool for those practising the technique but it begins with a useful introduction to Bowen, which can be used to explain the technique to the public, clients and other health practitioners as many people find explaining the technique to clients can be so difficult. The rest of the first DVD shows a series of tests which can be used to assess and better target treatment - to find out exactly where the origin of a problem or pain may be coming from and what you might do with that information in terms of treatment options and giving advice. The second DVD uses interviews with real clients to demonstrate Bowen in a clinical setting with 10 different case studies. This DVD illustrates how to work clinically with a variety of clients from babies, toddlers, mothers, people with severe back pain and other conditions such as fibromyalgia. Many practitioners when they are newly qualified have difficulty knowing how to apply the technique in the real world in other words, which moves to do from everything they have learnt, how to assess clients, when to leave longer gaps, what reactions are significant, how to ask the right questions and how to explain Bowen to the public. Learning the physical side of the technique itself is relatively easy but its only a quarter of the story it s a bit like learning to drive a car on a deserted road it doesn t prepare you for driving in a big bustling city. All therapists learn and refine their art through working on clients over a long period of time. The idea of this DVD set is to try and cut down that long learning period and save clients the process of trial and error. Bowen is a therapy that is particularly difficult to understand in terms of its mechanics and effects so it can take longer than many other therapies to get to grips with in practice. Each DVD has a running time of around 70 minutes.

This excellent DVD set has been a very useful addition to my Bowen 'library'. It uses language that is easy to understand and gives a good level of detail to ensure that you can accurately assess a client with common musculo-skeletal presentations.

There's a good section on what happens when a baby travels through the birth canal and the problems that can arise during this process and a useful section on children through to teens.

I would highly recommend it.
