Product Description

Review

Overall, this is an excellent soft cover book. The authors aim it mainly at the undergraduate, but I agree that it is a useful reference source for the practising dentist.
Australian Dental Journal

Journal of Dentistry

It is appreciated by students and teachers for its direct uncluttered advice...An excellent undergraduate textbook...well-illustrated, concise and clear.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good book, hard stuff, 8 Mar 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Applied Dental Materials (Paperback)
The topic of dental materials in general is difficult and this book doesn't make it alot easier. However, if you decide you want to study dental materials in a bit more depth this book will certainly do the job.

Dental materials was not my favourite subject and this book didn't help either. But if you have to study it, as part of your course it will do the job (if you want to).

3.0 out of 5 stars heavy but worthwhile, 11 Feb 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Applied Dental Materials (Paperback)
This is not a book for last minute exam study but rather a fairly heavy text for those interested in finding out more about some dental materials.

It goes through each type of material (both clinical and laboratory) in turn. Although all the information you need is there, I found it hard to distinguish which were the important bits.

It assumes a fairly high level of prior knowledge of chemistry/physics (solid state diagrams anyone?) and does tend to become bogged down in long words.

If you just want to get through the exam this isn't the book for you. If you're actually interested in dental materials (I wasn't) it might be.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good, 22 July 2010
Comprehensive coverage of the subject. Read the first few chapters about basic terminology to understand the rest - then you won't feel the need to write reviews about the text being ''heavy'' etc. Perhaps would have like to have seen more written about the so-called 'sandwhich technique' (i.e. RMGIC base / composite layer on top).
