...it does turn the already excellent video ipod into much more of a home entertainment device. I have it wired into my Hi-Fi amplifier most of the time, but is also great when hooked up to the TV to show slideshows or videos.

What a great product, it looks good, is very robust, and makes my ipod's videos appear huge on tv with very little quality loss.
The only bad thing i can say about it is that it is maybe a little overpriced for what it is but if you want to get the most out of your ipod it's a necessity.
Oh and make sure you have your ipod's video set to 'TV out = On' i spent a good ten minutes panicing as to why the picture wasn't coming up on the TV!
Get this if you have a lot of videos on your ipod, you won't be dissapointed!

I recently purchased this item hoping that it would let me watch my videos on my tv on my ipod classic. well it doesn't work for videos on the ipod classic, works for music and photos but thats it. I tried it on the previous ipod model which i had (30gb video) the videos worked but the picture was very blurry and when you turned up the volume a weird buzzing sound came from the t.v. if you are planning on buying this to watch videos on your t.v don't if your buying it to use your t.v as an ipod speaker or to show photographs then buy it

Yes, it's worth stumping up the extra for a genuine iPod, and yes, certain branded Apple accessories do warrant a premium price, but this cable is somewhat over-priced for what it is - a simple 4-pole 3.5mm jack to AV adapter cable, exactly the same as you'd get with any modern camcorder to connect it to your TV. Well, not quite identical. In fact, to make sure that people were suckered into paying extra for the 'genuine iPod' cable, Apple decided to switch the connections around, so if they did try to use a standard AV cable it would appear not to work. Most people don't realise this. So, if you want to use your camcorder's AV adapter video cable with your iPod to watch iPod videos on your TV, just switch the output connectors on your existing cable around. Plug the Red connector into the Yellow socket on the TV, plug the White connector into the Red socket on the TV and plug the Yellow connector into the White socket on the TV. I stuck Dymo tape with the correct labelling on my cable, and I've used it without any problems in several different TVs. Also, don't worry too much about getting the conenctors mixed up. You're unlikely to damage anything. You'll just get a snowstorm instead of a TV picture. Of course, feel free to buy the Apple adapter, but trust me, any standard non-iPod cable will work with the above changes, and the generic non-Apple AV adapters sold for a third of the price will do a perfectly good job. Happy viewing!

Update: The latest Apple devices (Nano, Touch and iPhone) cannot export video in this way - you unfortunately now need a special connector (good old Apple). It's probably worth mentioning that since my original review, this particular item has reduced in price significantly.
