as it does what it needs to and seems to be the best you can hope for being as this ipod version is so 'old' now. Short of buying another ipod just to have a better armband choice, which I have no intention of doing, I will continue to buy it while I can get them.
With 3-4 hours use in the gym a week including weights you can expect 2 years out of it, my first two certainly managed that although washing it does reduce its lifespan so I stopped that.
Between 12-18 months the velcro will go, simply replaced by stitching on some new from my repair basket. 18-24 months expect the armband to fray and then snap and potentially peel as it is made of multiple layers.
Not much you can do about the fraying, it is simply from the stretching it undergoes, but the peeling can just be sorted by some spray mount.
Being a workhorse of an item it needs maintenance to extend its life otherwise you will probably be lucky to get 12 months out of it. If aesthetics are important to you it will probably start looking tatty after 9 months, although mine is under the sleeve of my t-shirt so can't be seen anyway.
Ipod fit is good and the controls are easy to use and responsive through the casing and the armband is comfortable and fits well until the velcro needs replacing, which is why I am happy to stick with it
What I will be doing this time, which I didn't with my first, is wear the second one to the band snapping and then use the new one. Before I got rid of it because it was tatty, but I am going to try to get as many more weeks/months out of it as I can due to the price of them and therefore -1 star.
